پشت کردن به حرفه ای سودآور در جریان اصلی صنعت موسیقی در نیویورک جایی که او با RedOne تولید کننده ی مشهور بین المللی (اکون، لیدی گاگا، انریکه ایگلسیاس، مایکل جکسون و غیره) کار میکرد. ماهر تصمیم گرفت موسیقی ای بسازد که ریشه های او یعنی هم اروپایی و هم عرب و مسلمان را منعکس کند بنابراین شروع به همکاری با Awakening Records (که سکوی شهرت هنرمند بریتانیایی سامی یوسف بود) برای الهام بخشیدن به جوانان در سراسر جهان کرد.

در اوایل مارس 2010، اولین آلبوم ماهر “Thank You Allah” توسط ( Awakening Records) منتشر شد که آلبوم NO.1 بالاترین فروش در سایت آمازون در بخش موسیقی و NO.9 در بخش R & B جهان بود. با انتشار آلبوم دوم  “Forgive Me” ماهر همچنان به الهام بخشیدن به دنیا از طریق موسیقی خودادامه داد.

ماهر تا بحال در کشور هایی نظیر ایالات متحده آمریکا، انگلستان، کانادا، استرالیا، سوئد، فرانسه، هلند، بلژیک، سوئیس، آلمان، اتریش، بوسنی، امارات متحده عربی، مصر، الجزایر، بحرین، اردن، مالزی، اندونزی، برونئی، سنگاپور و تایلند و چند کشور دیگر کنسرت برگزار کرده، با چنین شور و اشتیاق و استعداد باور نکردنی و سبک منحصر بفرد آسمان هم برای ماهر محدود است.

اولین الهام موسیقیایی ماهر از پدرش که یک خواننده محلی در شهر زیبای مدیترانه ای، طرابلس، در لبنان بود ، نشات گرفت.ماهر که مجذوب موسیقی و آلات موسیقی بود اولین کیبوردش را، هنگامی که 10 سال بیشتر نداشت ، هدیه گرفت و از آن زمان به بعد موسیقی به بخشی از زندگیش تبدیل شد.

زمانی که 8 ساله بود خانواده ی وی به سوئد نقل مکان کردند و ماهر در آنجا به تحصیلاتش ادامه داد و در رشته مهندسی هوافضا فارغ التحصیل شد . با همه ی تغییراتی که در اطراف ماهر در حال وقوع بود یک چیز بدون تغییر باقی ماند و آن علاقه شدید او به موسیقی بود.
 
ماهر شب ها تا دیر هنگام در مدرسه با دوستانش به خواندن و سرودن و تجربه موسیقی مشغول بود . مدت زیادی طول نکشید که او متوجه شد موسیقی جزء جدایی ناپذیر از وجود اوست. پس از مدتی به عنوان تولید کننده موفق در عرصه ی موسیقی معرفی شد. اولین همکاری ماهر در زمینه موسیقی با "  RedOne" و هنرمندان سوئدی بود و بعدها به نیویورک نقل مکان کرد ودر آنجا  به فعالیت های خود ادامه داد.

وی به مدت چند سال در صنعت پرطرفدار موسیقی نیویورک حضور داشت و با هنرمندان موفقی همچون Kat Deluna کار کرد و در اولین و موفق ترین آلبومش با دو ترک موفق  Whine up و Run the Show به شهرت رسید.
ماهر آن چیزی را داشت ،که دیگران رویا قلمداد می کردند. وی در این رابطه می گوید:" من شیفته موسیقی هستم ، اما از آنچه که آن را احاطه کرده ، بیزارم و همین باعث القای این حس می شود که چیزی درست نیست."

RedOne  همچنان در حال گسترش یافتن بود و با هنرمندانی چون آکون ، لیدی گاگا ، انریکو ، برندی ، نیو کید و مایکل جکسون همکاری می کرد ، تا جایی که به موقعیتی باورنکردنی در عرصه تولید موسیقی دست یافت .با همه ی این احوال ماهر مردد بود و سرانجام تصمیم گرفت صنعت موسیقی و حاشیه های آن را رها کند و به سوئد بازگردد.

پس از بازگشت وی  با گروهی  از برادران که در انجمن اسلامی استکهلم فعالیت داشتند، آشنا شد و از آن زمان به طور منظم در مسجد محل اقامت اش حضور پیدا می کرد و از همان لحظه احساس کرد که سرانجام به خانه رسیده است.

در سال 2009 ، ماهر زین با موسیقی متفاوتی به صنعت موسیقی بازگشت و تصمیم گرفت با شرکت Awakening Records  در البومی که هویت -عرب ، مسلمان و سوئدی وی را منعکس میکند کار کند. اولین البوم وی ‘Thank You Allah’ در اکتبر 2009 توسط شرکت Awakening Records منتشر شد. این البوم با موفقیتی درخشان در جایگاه نخست چارت جهانی موسیقی امازون و در جایگاه 9 چارت R&B قرار گرفت و با استقبال بین المللی روبرو شد و همچنین جایزه ی 10 پلاتین اورد مالزیا را برای پرفروش ترین البوم در 2010 در اخرین دهه بدست اورد.

 در اپریل 2012 وی دومین البوم خود “Forgive Me ” را منتشر کرد این البوم ترکیبی از موسیقی پر انرژی و مدرن شرق و غرب است و پیش بینی شد موفقیت البوم اول را تکرار کند و مخاطبین را در سراسر دنیا جذب کند.

Leaving behind a lucrative career in the mainstream music industry in New York where he worked with internationally renowned producer RedOne (Akon, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, Michael Jackson etc) Maher chose instead to make music that reflects his roots of being both European, Arab and Muslim and he is working with Awakening Records (who launched the career of British artist Sami Yusuf) to inspire the youth across the world. In early March 2010, Maher's debut album “Thank You Allah” (released by Awakening Records) was the No.1 highest selling album on Amazon in the world music section and Number 8 in the R&B section. With the release his second album “Forgive Me” Maher continues to inspire the world through his music. Maher Zain’s first musical inspiration came from his father, who was a singer himself, performing locally in the beautiful Mediterranean city of Tripoli - Lebanon. Fascinated by the music and instruments, Maher got his first keyboard when he was only ten and ever since music officially became part of Maher’s world.
The family moved to Sweden when Maher was only 8, where he continued his schooling, and later entered university and got a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering. With things changing around him, one thing remained the same - his passion for music. He would spend late nights at school with his friends where they would sing, rap, compose and experiment with music in every way. It didn’t take him long to realize that music became an integral part of who he is.

After being involved for a while in the music scene in Sweden as a music producer, Maher was introduced to RedOne, a gifted music producer who was fast rising in the music scene in Sweden. Maher started working with RedOne with Swedish artists, and later moved with him to New York. For a few years he was in the middle of the hot rush of the NY music industry, working with chart topping artists such as Kat Deluna on her debut album that included smash hits ‘Whine up’ and ‘Run the Show’.
